Android vs iPhone. It’s the tech war of the century. And it’s been going strong ever since Android became the most well-liked smartphone platform in the U.S. in 2011.
Everyone rushes to scrutinize new additions to the Galaxy and iPhone families. It comes as no surprise, then, that everyone’s currently pitting the Galaxy S9 against the iPhone X.
So which phone comes out on top? What are the benefits of purchasing the Galaxy S9 vs. iPhone X?
As you’ll soon find out, neither phone is “better.” That said, one of these phones is sure to be better for you and your purposes.
The Galaxy S9
The Galaxy S9 is as sleek and slim as most other smartphones on the market today. Its two primary selling points, however, set it apart from many of the other options–including the iPhone X.
These selling points are:
- Headphone jack
Let’s take a closer look:
The iPhone X simply can’t compete with the Galaxy S9 on price. An iPhone X will run you $999–and that’s for the 64GB version. If you want more storage space, you’ll spend way more.
The Galaxy S9, on the other hand, can be as affordable as $720 for 64GB. Not only that, but you can easily purchase more storage space by buying a cheap SD card for the phone.
Apple made headlines when the company its phones’ headphone jacks. Customers complained about the inconvenience and cost of purchasing specialized Apple headphones.
Fortunately, Android’s phones are still sporting headphone jacks. This means your Galaxy S9 will come with a fully functional jack.
The iPhone X has its issues, but it can definitely compete with the S9 on two things:
- Camera quality
- Water resistance
Great Camera Quality
Many of the newest smartphones on the market take passable pictures. The best of those phones take even better pictures (i.e. the Galaxy S9).
But here’s the thing:
The Galaxy S9’s camera quality doesn’t stand up to the iPhone X’s camera quality. The S9 takes great photos in dim environments, but the iPhone X takes the better picture all around.
Both phones are admittedly waterproof. The Galaxy S9 has an IP68 water-resistance rating while the iPhone X has an IP67 rating.
So what does the iPhone X’s water-resistance rating mean for you?
Well, an IP67 rating means that:
- The phone is entirely dustproof.
- You can submerge the phone up to one meter in a body of water for 30 minutes.
If you leave your iPhone X underneath the water for longer than the recommended time? There are no guarantees that it will be safe, as is the case with all waterproof phones.
In any case, at least your iPhone X will still be usable if you accidentally drop it in the toilet.
